Customer Review: Don't waste your money
Immediately upon receiving this product I assembled it, gassed it up, and pulled the starter. It started right away! Only problem, it would not STAY running!! I messed with it for about 20 minutes before finally giving up and calling the 800 number. After a wait of seven minutes a customer rep told me the problem was the carburetor. The carburetor was not "Adjusted" for my area (Ohio). I would have to take it to a repair shop. This product was just minutes out of the box!!! An email to the company confirmed that the most likely culprit was the carb and that some areas of the country have this problem.

Folks I have this weed eater since 2001, and it has gotten many work-outs sometimes I run it for almost 2 hrs trimming 3 acres of light to moderate weeds. I will say this I have changed the spark plug once, and have never been to concerned of the gas to oil mix ratio, just guessing most of the time. It is a little tricky to get started, a few primers and a few pulls on full choke, a few primers and pulls on moderate choke, and off and running removing the choke totally. She runs smooth, and never misses a beat, and I was very happy with almost every feature, but the bump and feed system totally sucks. I mean I'm always turning it off flipping the spool over and pulling the string out to get the proper length etc. I think I paid &69.00 at lowes back in 2001 at, and I've gotten my money out of this, but the time I spend on the bump and feed really slows me down to a crawl. I realize I need a bigger more expensive unit now, but if you have moderate trimming and live in a more city to suburban setting with little ground this will be a nice selection. I think I over used the bump/feed spool, and have suffered through ever since. The little motor humms and I've never done any service but the plug and the throttle wire after many uses had to be repaired, and $20 bill at my local mower shop so now you can make a more informed choice about this one!

I bought this for the weed eater attachment, I will use the saw some but mostly the weed eater. Shipped on time tracked it online, amazon used fedex. arrived in orginal box so it was no wondering what it was. No damage from shipping. Started great, 2 pulls, but I did follow the instructions and the advice others gave here, push the priming button 6 times. Weed eater attachement works great but just some getting used to with the angle and not a straight shaft, that is the only reason it is 4 and not 5 stars. Saw worked good, I would stay that I used this for about 45-60 min and must of started and stoped it 4-5 times and I moved branches and changed attachments. After it was warm it started on first pull. give it some gas before you tilt it upward to cut a branch, or it won't have the power. Great machine works great,

This item has performed very nicely for what I had hoped to use it for. It is a bit heavier than I thought it would be (most noticeable when reaching for those tall branches)but it is getting the job done. I also purchased the brush cutter option for this and it also does a nice job cutting. I previously owned a professional-model Shindaiwa trimmer, which was great and nearly indestructible. This one by Swisher has an advanced type of Shindaiwa engine, is lighter weight, and due to its higher RPM cuts unbelievably well. Vines, twigs on tree branches, tall weeds, all are practically vaporized. The self-feeding spool works as advertised-- you can restring it in 30 seconds, without tools-- once you know how it works and what to expect. The manual does a very poor job of explaining how the spool works. It only provides an illustration with arrows and symbols, and no text explaining how you're supposed to thread the replacement line. I did it wrong the first time, then had to use up the line by trimming, with only one feed instead of two, because I couldn't figure out how to remove the line once installed. Now I know what to expect and can load new line in no time.

Customer Review: Terrible. Design Flaw. Avoid this, don't make my mistake.
Amazon won't accept zero stars, so it got a one. I bought this (actually delivered the same unit but as a 4-stroke...). I uploaded two user photos that show the problem, but here it is: There is a big space between the rotating cutter head and the shaft. This fills with weeds/long grass really quickly when in use, and when it fills it stalls the clutch and quits cutting. This requires reaching down and pulling all the weeds, etc, out of the space to use it. In my use it'd fill up about every 20 seconds, so I didn't use it long. Oh, I can't return it, either. It's 'too dangerous' to ship back to Amazon, so buyer beware with this entire range of products.

Customer Review: Didn't Meet Minimum Needs for a Trimmer
I bought one of these after my long time John Deere (Homelight rebranded) Trimmer had finally given up the ghost. First: I do not have a huge lot nor do I have a lot of heavy grass to contend with. My yard is pretty much the same as most suburban people and it requires a lot of weekly manicuring to keep up. This unit had a lot of difficulty in starting. You should only have to give a unit 3 pulls, with the choke on and properly primed, to start it. Right out of the box, it would start then quit. Start, then quit. Once it finally did warm up the trimmer never seemed to rev up to full speed as if it was starving for fuel. Flipping the trimmer upside down to edge the lawn (something a trimmer must be able to do) would most certainly starve the trimmer and quit. This system has a horrible fuel delivery design and can't even perform the basic needs of a trimmer. The rock guard, or whatever you want to call it, is too small. When trimming, this thing will blow stuff all over you! I don't know why they even put the rock guard on because I got beaten up every time I used it! I gave this thing the benefit of the doubt based on price but after 30 days I just couldn't take it anymore. If it has difficulty starting, can't edge because it starves out for fuel and the rock guard won't protect the operator from flying debris then it just becomes a miserable experience to use. I took it back and got a full refund without any questions.

I recently purchased this trimmer after extensive online research as well as questioning those I know with lawn care businesses. Based on my research this is the best value near this price range for string trimmers. The trimmer is slightly heavy, certainly seems closer to 15-18 pounds than 10 pounds. However the power and cutting ability significantly reduced my time trimming so the additional weight was not a problem. The owners manual was lacking to illegible. Stringing it the first time was a challenge and took me nearly an hour to figure it out. Assembly is straight forward and simple as is starting and operating the trimmer. It has more than adequate power for home use. I purchased the .095 "Husqvarna Titanium Force Premium Trimmer Line" and it beats everything in it's path to death. It will break at times on chain link fencing and landscaping bricks. It starts quickly and effortlessly, runs smooth and without vibration, is well balanced and a pleasure to operate. Personally I am no fan of "bump head" trimmers but the line holds up very well so it isn't as irritating as with some other trimmers. This model has a clutch to engage the cutting head where your palm holds the shaft and once released the head stops spinning while the engine remains idling. I have adapted to releasing the clutch and manually pushing the bump head to release additional line as needed. This ensures I get the proper length and will prolong the life of the bump head assembly. I cannot attest to the durability of this product as mine is quite new but based on my personal research it should hold up well. Additionally as with any good two cycle equipment I highly recommend you spend a few extra dollars for premium 2-cycle oil as opposed to using the cheap stuff.

On the plus side, plenty of power and starts well. Can trim alot more than just the usual grass. On the minus side, a bit heavy and could use a shoulder strap. It will dig into the ground with its power if one is not careful so you could lose some nice flowers, etc. Ear protection is recommended as its loud enough to bother. The plastic string that came with the trimmer is not separated on the spool. Its a dual string spool so the string has to be split by hand and rewound to the spool. If not, the string will not advance when needed.

Customer Review: Piece of junk!!!
Don't purchase this item. I purchased it for my husband for Father's day. When it came, it wouldn't start, called the company and they gave us a local repr for repair. He stated it would cost more than it is worth to fix it so I sent it back. Know I have to deal with Amazon, to get my money back which I doubt I will never get because of their return policy. Very discouraged and felt Amazon purchased rejects from Weed Eater to dump on their customers.
